We planted eight trees recently and I am so excited to watch them grow! At our old house we planted six trees and two smoke bushes. In this house, we have now planted 13 trees and three smoke bushes. I cannot confirm or deny that I am done planting.Read More
I love October. I love the weather. I love Halloween. I just love it!! I decorated the inside of the house a couple of weeks ago, so we decorated the outside more this weekend. I hung witches hats from fishing line and I love how it looks. And yes, the boys have their costumes all figured out. Erik is going to be a sloth and Casey is the white rabbit.
This weekend started out with Erik's soccer game.
Friday night, Erik and I spent time with Margery and Rita, while Pedar was out at a birthday party with Casey. This weekend we cleaned up the garden. It was a good first run with it. We got a ton of cucumbers, a few peppers and tomatoes. The zucchini and spaghetti squash did really well. I cleaned up the front flower bed a little and planted a smoke bush and some other perennials.
Friday was Culmination Day at school. The performances were fantastic and I loved the "Build It" theme.
Erik and Ollie play, "American Ninja Warrior" everyday at school. It was fun to watch them swing all over the place.
Last weekend we hiked around Ancil Hoffman with the boys. We haven't hiked it in awhile. It is a nice little 3-mile hike. We saw a ton of deer, turkey, heron's and woodpecker's.
Oh my gosh! This weekend we went to our friends new house for dinner and she took us on a walk to the "bunny house!" It was crazy. There were bunnies everywhere.
Erik reunited with his pre-school best friend this weekend for his birthday party.
Casey has been drawing a lot more lately. I love it!!
Hope everyone has a great week!
Saturday morning we got up, ran some errands and then headed to Erik's first soccer game with his new team the Red Devils. When we arrived to the game, all the boys were given brown arm bands in honor of their coach, Methven Brown. Methven died unexpectedly on July 20 at 47-years-old. His youngest son plays on the team. In fact, his son made two goals at the game and would point up at the sky and smile after every goal. The Red Devils won their first game. We feel really lucky to be on this team.
Saturday evening we celebrated my Dad's birthday and my parents and Bridget and Chuck's wedding anniversary. It was great watching the kids play and hearing about how school is going.
On Sunday, Pedar left early to go on a bike ride with friends benefiting the American River Parkway.
In September I get really itchy to go to the nursery, so the boys and I headed to Green Acres and picked up a few new green friends. I have so many dreams for our yard. Little by little it will happen.
Erik saw this praying mantis eating a moth while we were out planting last night. He got this awesome picture!
We added a smoke bush and a few more plants to the front flower bed and a camelia in the backyard.
Before we knew it, it was time to get ready for the work/school week. Hope everyone has a great week!!
I've been feeling like I am sleep walking. I traveled to Florida last week for a work conference. I left my house at 4 a.m. on Wednesday and returned at 2 a.m. on Saturday. The time difference, conference schedule and flight delays returning home have me feeling wacky. I managed pretty well this weekend, but today I would love a 6-hour nap. Florida was hot. We were in Orlando and other than having a few delicious meals, we didn't see much.
The weekend before I left, not this past one, but the one before; I just can't catch up! Anyhoo, darling Lindsey was in town from Southern California so we had a nice visit with her Dagny, Dean and Addison. Lindsey's new job is going well and her house in Southern California is great! It was so great seeing her so happy!
This Monday, Casey left to Camp Winthers for the week. Erik didn't want to say goodbye. We spent Sunday getting him ready. I hope he has a great time. A few of his friends from Mission went with him so he is all set to make amazing memories.
Casey and Abby went to Pierce Art Camp last week. They loved it! These kids are having a great summer! All the boys have left for the summer is Vacation Bible School at St. John's and Rock Climbing Camp and then we are going camping the week before school starts!
Summer is flying by. The boys go back to school in less than a month. I am looking forward to some time off before school starts. The kids have had a lot of fun with friends. Our garden is doing fantastic. Curly got a haircut and looks cuter. Our crepe myrtle is gorgeous, again. We've enjoyed a few bike rides and a ton of swimming fun with friends and neighbors. This weekend we are celebrating Bridget, Chuck and Lila's birthday's!!
Have a good week everyone! Hugs and love to you all.
We worked on the yard a bit this weekend. Pedar has been digging a ditch so he can bring some water to our thirsty plants and garden. He is almost done!
I'm coming for ALL the yard yuck this year. No more weeds in cracks. No more barren, dead areas and paths that just stop. I'm going to finish the path to the pool and cover some ground with bark. I'm tired of looking at you yuck yard. It is time for you to go! I will find a way to make you look better!! OH YES I WILL!! We found several HUGE black widow spiders by the pool fence. Say hello to our friend Charlotte!
We have some crack issues we need to deal with.
Isn't this a pretty area of our yard?!!
We went over to Nana and Papa's and had lunch with everyone and enjoyed swimming with all the kids. Later that day we celebrated our friend Ryan's birthday and had a great night out. I enjoyed a French 75 for the first time and I LOVED it.
Tomorrow is the last day of school! June 2 is also Leif and Sierra's 15th wedding anniversary! Happy Anniversary!!! Cheers to many more happy years! Hope everyone is staying cool and getting acclimated to Summer! The heat is on!!!
