Three years ago we went to Disneyland. We saved money from the sale of our house and surprised the boys with an epic Halloween at the happiest place on earth! And it was! But then the reality of buying a fixer-upper kicked in, and vacations and anything else took a back seat. But who cares, we have a house with a pool and some of the best weather in the world. But it was time to visit this amazing happy place again. We tentatively planned to go in November. I had a big work trip planned to Columbus Ohio. I knew that once I got that out of the way I would be free to take a few days off. So, I arrived home Friday and jumped in the car bright and early Saturday to drive. Yes, I was tired, but my super adorable and excited children chased the tired away! We arrived in Anaheim around 2:30 p.m. We left early Saturday and made amazing time. When we checked in at the hotel, the helpful person at the front desk let us know we COULD buy tickets to Disneyland that start at 5 p.m. and that the park was open till midnight! We had three-day hopper passes, but what were we going to do all day now that we were here???? WE WERE GOING TO DISNEYLAND OF COURSE!!! We bought the darn tickets, packed our backpacks full of snacks and hit the road! We made it till about 10 p.m. and then we starting feeling our early morning. Our first evening at the park was warm and wonderful. Just the way we like it!
The next three days flew by! It was so much fun this time being with our BIG kids. For the first time we had NO stroller and Erik was big enough for every ride. In fact, his favorite ride was California Screamin in California Adventure, the only ride that goes upside down. He LOVED it. He wanted to go on it everyday. He rode it about 15 times. Both boys love the crazy rides the best.
The last day we were at the park, we visited both parks. When we checked how far we walked that day, we discovered that we had walked close to ten miles. On average we walked about 7 and a half miles a day. It was epic. The 1/2 mile walk back to our hotel every night was a real SLOW walk, but we did it, and every morning these boys were RARING to go again!!!
We ran into the Abrams family and Twanet while we were there! They were celebrating Bannon's Birthday.
Oh my goodness the Frozen show in California Adventure is so fantastic!! The boys loved Splash Mountain, Space Mountain and Matterhorn so much. We of course also love, Pirates, Haunted Mansion and Indiana Jones. I finally took the boys on It's a Small World and it didn't disappoint!
Our last evening on Tuesday, we were on Main Street in Disneyland. We were walking out of the park and the announcement over head said that they would be lighting up the castle. So they turned all the lights off, and the castle was lit with lights and what looked like snow. And then it starting snowing on Main Street. It was magical and yes I cried. The "snow" smelled like peppermint and gingerbread. It was off-the-hook awesome and a perfect way to end our trip. We made wonderful memories and yeah, I can't wait to go back. There really is something magical and special about Disneyland.
